4 stars for the manual, 5 stars for its supplier

Posted by SKH on Nov 8th 2016

Being located at the other side of the world (literally), delivery took some time and my first tracking link turned out to be dead. Maybe because of my location? When asking after a few days, it turned out that another tracking link was needed, and showed my manuals entering my country at that time. So, after all a timely delivery and very helpful staff responding impressively soon when I had questions. I'll use this source for later needs. As for the manual, it is laid out for the one having a problem to solve. It will tell you how to remedy it in a step-by-step manner, but it will not reveal any other information to help you gain a more holistic understanding. E.g. lightings systems: The headlamp switch diagram is spread out over several separate circuit descriptions, like one for parking lights, one for headlamps, and so on. If you want to get the complete picture, you will need to piece it together by yourself. Also, it is sort of incomplete in terms of GM issuing updates that aren't referred inside (because the manual's release date predates GM's update), covering e.g. production changes that may not cover your particular vehicle. E.g. for my car, a thing as simple as the RPO (Regular Production Option) table is incomplete. Apart from that, this set is very thorough and contains details I've yet to see anywhere else.

    Invaluable resource

Posted by CJ on Apr 18th 2016

This four volume, exceptionally hard to find, set of service manuals are an invaluable resource for any backyard mechanic. They are not for the faint at heart or impatient though; many sections refer to other sections for component removal/re-installation but the level of detail is well beyond what you will find in a Chilton or Climers book.
